Well ... My definition of thin client if a client does not require a high school program to run only one program. Do you need a Java or Java Runtime Environment JRE say just to run an applet in the browser, then it is a fat client, while if a PHP script, even if it left no time to develop implementation of the program on your computer, it is that a thin client. Therefore, a thin client does not run when the network connection is unavailable.
